COURAGE

If you have read my page on hope, I would like to mention my thoughts on courage.

You have to have courage to live through this hell. I recognise that I did always have courage and even more so in the last 15 years of difficulties. It took guts to repetitively try to take my life.

But those living with addictions can find courage to fight the illness and eventually come through. Having never lived, in my adult life, without chemicals to face each day and night; learning to live without substances isn’t easy.

I need courage to face my new life…………..I have never worked; now I want to gain qualifications and start a career. I had to learn how to communicate with other people and gain self worth and self esteem.

Your deep wishes to be ‘normal’ may not be the same as mine but you will need the same courage.

It all comes from having courage to change from what I know to what I can be.
